Savannah's West Broughton Street area and City Market by Ellis Square is a wonderful area to walk and explore at night. There are plenty of windows to shop and a lot of aromas to smell here from different flavors of restaurants. Leopold's Ice cream was very popular with a long line waiting outside on the sidewalk. The illuminated SCAD theater sign advertised free Christmas movies on December 20, 2025. Live music was being played outside in City Market located between Franklin Square and Ellis Square. At Ellis Square, there is a statue of Johnny Mercer, who wrote 1,400 songs, leaning against a fire hydrant while reading. Also in Elllis Square is a seasonal display of bigger than life Christmas ornaments which is a popular photo backdrop.
